RECON Demo Day With Keith Lyman

On Saturday, September 9th, over 25 members of the military and their friends were treated to a day on the water with Keith Lyman on Jordan Lake in North Carolina. Lyman, who has been active in the military for 1 year and 6 months, was the inspiration behind the Axis Wake Research RECON edition towboat. Available on the A20 and A22, the RECON package offers a digi camo graphic, special branding and accents throughout. A portion of the proceeds will go to Jared Allen's Homes 4 Wounded Warriors, a non-profit who builds new houses for injured war veterans.

Even though the weather was a challenge, Lyman still put on a show and was psyched to bring his new friends to the lake. "This was a fun experience for myself and all the guys who came out," Lyman said. "Most of them knew what I used to do on the water, but might not have realized what wakeboarding was all about. They all had an awesome time and want to continue doing it."

Local rider Mitch Kappler and his family came out to support the cause. Mitch's father Brent said, "Despite the rain, this was a great event." Special thanks to ProMarine out of Durham, NC. http://www.promarineboats.com

2013 RECON Edition

Axis Wake Research Honors Armed Forces With RECON Edition Boat

Axis Wake Research has developed a special, limited-time RECON edition boat as a tribute to the U.S. Armed Forces. This special edition was inspired by team rider Keith Lyman, who decided to leave professional wakeboarding to serve in the Army last year. A portion of the proceeds from each RECON edition boat will directly benefit Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors.

Both the popular A20 and A22 boats will be fitted with the RECON package in 2013, which includes digital camouflage graphics and vinyl accents, a RECON gel coat scheme, charcoal tower, and branded steering wheel, swim pad and carpet.

“We were moved by Keith’s decision and wanted to recognize and appreciate all the troops who are defending our freedom on a daily basis,” said Adam McCall, vice president of product for Malibu Boats.

Lyman retired from his ten-year wakeboarding career at age 27 and joined the military after admiring service members for most of his life. Axis Wake Research was impressed with Lyman’s decision to give up a successful professional wakeboarding career to serve our country and decided to honor him with the RECON edition.

“Both Axis Wake Research and Malibu Boats have supported the men and women who serve our country throughout our thirty-year history, and we will continue to do so with special projects like the RECON edition,” said McCall. “Many soldiers seem to be attracted to the Axis for its styling, simplicity and reasonable price, and this is the least we could do to give back.”

Axis, the fastest-growing towboat in the industry, has had success with special editions including the existing Vandall model.  The RECON package will be a highlight of the 2013 product line.

The RECON will make its debut at Surf Expo, September 6-8, 2012 in Orlando, Florida at booth #307.
